Floyd County, Iowa
I've often thought about contacting a beekeeper to set a few hives on our place. But with the aphids and spider mites on beans for the last several years, lots of insecticides being sprayed. Even if there aren't high pops of bugs, most throw it in with fungicide treatments.
I know that the hours of spraying insecticides are restricted around registered hives, but to me the limited hours mean nothing, considering the residuals on the insecticides. If the crop is sprayed Monday evening, after restricted hours, won't that residual still kill the bees Tuesday or Wednesday?
