Most people who will work and are worth having around are already employed.
Hire full time help and keep them instead of scrambling every year looking for non-existent part timers.
I know things are different in different areas, here at the moment, there seems to be a lot of competition for good help. It takes some doing to get them and some more doing to keep them.

+1

Thre are not many people sitting around unemployed who are skilled, have a work ethic, and can pass a pee test.

That’s right.
They want to hire some part time steering wheel holders to keep around during the busy season then lay them off “to save money”. It would be cheaper in the long run to hire skilled people who care and keep them full time. Even though there’s times “they have nothing to do”, keeping them long term through the slow time helps loyalty and when the busy times run them ragged they remember why they have it easy during slow times.
