NW Ohio
I try to be cautious and predict 80% or so of my APH. I then take action to achieve my highest yield ever.
Predicting “highest ever” yields can be very detrimental to actual farmers, who have to live within their means.
Predicting “highest ever” yields for the USDA has no consequences for them. Especially when they can go back a year or two and adjust their numbers to fit their needs. It has no economic impact for them. We all know that their purpose is to maintain a plentiful and affordable food supply for the U.S. and they are darn good at it. Those folks are like weathermen. They can be wrong........and still have a job.
