2003 Ford Explorer . 160,000 miles on it .. how many miles can I go for a oil change . Mechanic shop says 3,000... I usually stretch it to 4,000.. what’s everyone think?
Your Explorer is 17 years old with 160,000 miles, how long do you expect it to last? How many miles do you put on it? Most vehicles around here that age, those miles , are at the end of life, rusting out, interior wore out. No need to take great care of the engine. Change once a year at the most.
That would be very true for a daily driver from Northern Ohio. Northern Ohio is cruel to vehicles rustwise.
I just sold my '96 Ranger to a neighbor. It has basically zero rust on it anywhere. Certainly no visible rust on rocker panels, fenders, door bottoms, etc.
But it was driven very little in salt. Always garage kept.
Huge difference in vehicle condition depending where it came from, maintenance, garage kept, etc.
