At a live auction.........you've got the bid at 101..........competition bids 102............they look back at you..........you cannot say, hey, I would've bid 102. I don't want to have to bid 103 to buy it. I deserve to get it for 102.

I do wish they'd allow lower bid increments though. A grand each pop is brutal.


Big ticket items I’d almost rather go with larger increments. I was bidding on a early lot (Under 10) in a timed online sale. Opposing Bidder thought they would be sneaky and bid the last 5 seconds, so it went up $100 and reset the timer for another 4 minutes. I think it was the 2nd to last lot sold when it finally closed. I literally wasted close to 45 minutes on my phone bidding in stupid $100 increments when I was raising my max bid 2-3k a pop when I had to resubmit it. I hate slow and small increment auctions.


Just put in your max bid and walk away. Check at the end of the day to see if you got it.
