| I agree with the point of comparing it to a live auction. You bid (in effect, the software actually auto-bid for you) at 101. The next person then bid 102 and to you the next step is to go to 103 but you set a limit to what the software would auto-bid for you. In effect, you never bid 102, instead you told the software to limit its auto-bids for you at 102. It is just a coincidence that it happened that the winning bid was right at your upper limits.
If you were at a live auction and you had bid 101 and you were telling yourself that there is no way you would go over 102, then you would lose after the other bidder came over the top of you at 102. | |
