West central IL | Sometimes I almost think ag SHOULD be different. Of course I want my country to have a cheap, healthy, reliable, and abundant food source. But sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't be better if the US government bought every extra bushel and dumped it in the ocean. What would it cost every year? 25 billion? What's the annual budget? 4-5 trillion? Instead we are helping to support China's population and keeping their communist government in power by exporting high quality and reliable food to them. Let other countries worry about their own good supply.
I don't actually think this is best, but it's a thought. | |
