I’d think we would be opening a can of worms trying to roll back programs, at least to the point that’d make any difference. What we have to be careful of, beings we like to be the top dog in the world, is end up relying on foreign countries for our food and letting our farms vanish like our factories. (Which we do to an extent). Between being a govt pawn in trade wars or other disputes, a monetary policy that encourages a strong dollar, regulations that make us uncompetitive, ideas of “free trade” that lets in competitors products (ag too) into our country, the list goes on....

I know programs are a dirty word on here and in Agland in general, as folks gladly accept their checks and subsidies. (Which tells me it’s really not that dirty of a word. None the less, I’d think the more prudent thing to do is help free up the straps that tie us down with export markets so we can actually sell our production. That would help take out the whiplash of the markets and reduce the need for the other programs you wrote about that are designed to do the same thing (take out the whiplash). Then, we are taking the markets money instead of the taxpayers. However, in my humble opinion, taking out programs as a middle finger to socialism before we get our policy ducks in a row is not a wise idea.
