Northwest Iowa | I had a good relationship with my inlaws. Actually worked for my FIL as the hay stacker before dating my wife. My MIL died early in our marriage. I had a good relationship there as well. My brother in law is a great guy as his wife. My other brother in law(wifes husband) is also a peachy guy. My mother can be abrasive and my wife has mostly tolerated it all these years. My Dad was a real good guy. He would always be available to help with the kids at home when our youngest was sick and in the hospital. FIL remarried after being a widower for a few years. His wife is great and still a part of our family. I used to feel sorry for families unexpectedly losing both parents in a car accident. After a couple of years with FIL being unable to cope with loneliness, I saw that my pity was at least partly displaced. FIL helped me with farm work the last few years of his life. When he died, I told my wife and BIL that I spent more time with him than they did. | |
