OMG, yes some of us actually do pay to make improvements on rented land.  Seems to me that Brian's approach of farming a moderate acreage while trying to do a better job of it every year is far superior to the Rosentreter/Stamp/etc approach of trying to farm umpteen thousand acres in a dozen counties and getting on the cover of Top Producer, only to have a Chernobyl meltdown shortly afterward.
