| I can walk into several elevators at 8:00 in the morning and sell everything that I am reasonably assured to produce this year if I wanted to. Could the next day too. and 5 days next week too and the next week..... Then, said elevator has the responsibility of moving production into the supply chain.
Manage the rest of production through hedging if I just can't sleep at night.
Weather and the current field conditions as of the 13 of March is a lot bigger concern to 99% of your fellow farmers.
Hell, I try to get sows bred every week, and most the time dont have a real good idea if it is gonna be a positive outcome (sometimes it most certainly hasn't been).
I could care less about what the government is doing or saying, but when their actions create a response in the marketplace, I might alter plans accordingly. Crop rotations, labor distribution, and field logistics play a much larger role in deciding what to plant than wha the government is doing with trade issues. | |
