I have always questioned the grow something else in the boonies argument. The NW is set up for commodity production. Big fields and no people. It seems that the grow something else idea would work well where there is population to handle a field to table operation. My closest town over 3,000 people is 65 miles away.

Consumers are wanting to know where their food comes from, and we are just to far to make that a feasible option.

But it's us that need to change, because we can't grow 350 bushel corn... It takes a lot less big bushel acres to affect the carryout than those junky "fringe" acres.
