East Arkansas | Chad, education is always a good thing and the grass is always greener no matter what one does for a living.
After college I worked in a different industry for more than a decade, in the late 90’s I was making almost 6 figures as a 30 year old. I see many on here talk about less hours working “in town” in my experience that’s bunk, I put way more hours in when I worked for others...my schedule is definitely more erratic but I don’t put in as many hours and I have more flexibility as a farmer.
Second and thus is a big one, taxes. Do you have any idea how little money is left over when you pay taxes on 100k when you have no deductions?
Farming is tough right now no doubt, labor issues are a pain but being a wage earner is the worst.
