Subject: RE: Entertaining the Idea of Higher Education

Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska
A lot of jobs require a college degree. I don't always agree with that requirement. I think it is a way for employers to justify their own positions at times. I know of some jobs that could not be filled with some talented people but because of the degree requirement those positions had to be filled with what I thought were less than stellar people. I'm not condemning college education in any way. There are definitely some benefits that are not always tangible. But I have also seen kids not even finish high school and go into the workforce and self taught themselves and were earning 6 figure salaries by the age of 25. I always believe work ethic can get you quite a ways too but not always. Sometimes you have to have that degree behind you. Just depends what you want to go in to.
