My opinion is that if you're a large company and responsible for hiring a lot of positions, the idea of hiring folks with a college degree helps sort those out who at least had the dedication to follow through with their commitment. Obviously there may be more talented folks without a degree but why take a chance? Probably in smaller companies where management has a one on one connection it is not necessary. But if I'm at the top of the food chain in a big company I'd probably put that requirement onto my staff when they were charged with hiring personnel I will never meet. That is the advantage a small company has. But if you make $100 on each of the thousand you sell you have an income of $100k. The big company has the advantage of making $10 on each widget, but they sell a million. So their income is $10 million. I realize I'm not telling you anything you don't know..........so I digress.
