SW Ohio | I can't speak to your personal situation. But as someone who has an advanced degree ( I'm a veterinarian) I feel like it's often a case of the grass being greener. I look back at the time I spent on my education and can't help but think of where my farming career could be if I had started farming then.
On the other hand I learned a lot of things about science and myself that are helpful now on the farm.
I guess what I'm saying is do not pursue a degree for the sake of it. Figure out if there is something that you want to do that you will really enjoy, if it takes an education to do it then go for it. I decided to pursue an education and career off the farm mostly due to pressure from family, not because I was passionate about it. Now I am working an off farm job that pays well, have mountain of student loan debt, and spend most days wishing I could farm full time. | |
