After reading everyone’s replies it makes me glad we live in ky. We have never been weighed by the DOT. Had semis since ‘91. We run 10 during the fall and usually 4-5 all winter. Probably avg 90-100k year round. It’s hard for me to do any different when the same setup as we have (5 axles) is legal to haul 126,000 lbs of coal with just a $3-$400 permit. I guess that’s why we never get checked.


126,000# on 5 axles??! How big of trailers? And are the tires even rated for that?


Coal is for heat and they have to keep the public warm

just make sure you have "mountain brake drums "

the guy that had my trailer got a ticket with stone on

Told the judge that it was discrimination that he could scale 126,000 # load of black coal but not a 126,000 load of white stone

Judge said "pay the gal on the way out"
