Yep, traditionally, cabins or ranches in the mountains, or desert for that matter, were located near a spring. Made no sense to build where there was no water...now, the good spring sites are all pretty much taken, so the either drill a well, which is a hit or miss deal, or just haul water. I know of people who have an old pickup with a 200 gal. tank in the back, they just haul all the water they use.
