West of Mpls MN about 50 miles on Hwy 12 | Google, "how to use soybean meal as fertilizer." The results surprised me.
The University of North Carolina has done some research on using soybean meal as an organic fertilizer. They also found soybean meal can inhibit the germination of small seeds when soybean meal was broadcast applied. Worms and other microbes living in the soil just love soybean meal.
From these initial tests, it appears that broadcasting and incorporating SBM at the time of planting can significantly inhibit the germination and growth of small seeds.
