Southeast WI | It appears you have all the pitfalls of nitrogen management in hand. You do have a better way to get at the "correct" rate then as it appears you have been doing variable rate N?
How are you setting up this practice as in how do you determine "correct" rates from flat rates. What determines the rate change? How do you determine after the fact that your changes are right - what are you measuring against? And how repeatable are these results? As an example - do you find certain areas of fields always need higher or lower rates or does it change on the season? This is why I ask the main question is HOW are you developing the prescription for choosing rates. What TELLS you it's time to increase, decrease or not change rate. | |
