| just looked at some NASS survey results for IL.
In 2011, 70% of IL farmers indicated that they were using MRTN rates of N for corn.
In 2015, 81% of IL farmers indicated that they were using MRTN rates of N for corn.
when my students interview farmers in their communities, the percentage of farmers familiar with the MRTN concept is considerably lower.
I have a couple Qs:
1) Have you ever used the N-rate calculator (http://cnrc.agron.iastate.edu/)?
2) Do MRTN #s (as calculated by the N-rate calculator) play a role in your N management decisions?
3) Do the N rates that you use for corn fall within the MRTN range recommended by the N-rate calculator?
thanks in advance for any answers you are willing to share.

BTW The attached image shows the N-rate calculator's output for the following scenario:
Central IL

anhydrous = $450/ton
corn = $3.25/bu
