Nah, it was all part of the "Red Scare" and the "Godless Communists" after WWII.  Everyone has to have an enemy. "In God We Trust" on our money, in the Pledge of Allegiance, etc, etc.  Did you know, btw, that the Pledge lf Allegiance was written by a Socialist pastor?  It's pretty new.   I mean, Heck, if you do a little bit of research, you'd find out that Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin didn't even want Chaplains for Congress.  George Washington wasn't going to be sworn in on a Bible, but since he was taking office in the State of New York, and it was New York law, he did.  Etc. Etc.  Secularism isn't a new thing.  It's what this country was actually founded on.
