West of Mpls MN about 50 miles on Hwy 12
Are things "worse" than they were in the past?

Although there was an increase in 2015, and 2016, the homicide rate is 48% lower than it was when it peaked in 1980. It's still lower than it was in the 60's. The final homicide rate is expected to fall slightly in 2017. The overall violent crime rate is down over 50% since 1993.

Sexual harassment is being reported now days...not a bad thing IMO. Many of the "news" stories about sexual harassment today, the harassment happened in the past.

Unplug the computer, shut the TV off, spend the time volunteering at your local elementary school, maybe teach a Sunday school class at your church instead if you want to "improve" the next generation...you might even see an "improvement" in your own mindset if you do. ;)

Some facts about crime in the US.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_the_United_States

Crime in the United States has been recorded since colonization. Crime rates have varied over time, with a sharp rise after 1963, reaching a broad peak between the 1970s and early 1990s. Since then, crime has declined significantly in the United States,[1] and current crime rates are approximately the same as those of the 1960s.[2]

Crime over time[edit]

In the long term, violent crime in the United States has been in decline since colonial times. The homicide rate has been estimated to be over 30 per 100,000 people in 1700, dropping to under 20 by 1800, and to under 10 by 1900.[6]

After World War II, crime rates increased in the United States, peaking from the 1970s to the early 1990s. Violent crime nearly quadrupled between 1960 and its peak in 1991. Property crime more than doubled over the same period. Since the 1990s, however, crime in the United States has declined steeply.

Let's hope the trend since the 1990's continues.
