Southern Alberta Canada | Park a current truck and one from the seventies side by side and make some measurements, I bet you'll be surprised. I think you'll find the biggest difference is the bodies have gotten taller to improve headroom, the cabs are longer but the noses are shorter.
Some of the claims on here about ride and vehicle capabilities are pretty outrageous LOL.
