Subject: RE: size of pickup's today

New Brunswick, Canada
The solid axle 4wd's have always been tall, only the TTB fords and IFS chev/gm trucks ever got low.

Neighbours had 2wd fords from 70's into the 80's, low box handy for lots of things but sure like the bigger cabs now. You forget how cramped those things were until you jump in one now.

Was at a large store today and sitting and watching a guy try and park his 4 dr. jacked up long bed truck, he finally parked half out in the drive lane and across the line, best he could do I guess, after he walked away, I got to looking and noticed this "tank" was a half ton!!
I remember back in the 60's thru 80's the half tons were small looking trucks, 3/4 bigger and taller and so on up the line.
are today's 1/2 tons still rated the same as back then? if so aren't they already pushing the limit carrying all that weight around, guess that's why they have to use so much alum.
why do they have to look soooo big and still be only rated 1/2 ton?
not wanting any wars here but just got me to thinking why???
