I think the CHS model with its many divisions fits the coop idea exactly. Why not receive some of the benefits of marketing and processing? CHS returned $480 million to its farmer/owners this past month, 40% of it in cash. How many checks did Cargill, or CPS, or Marubeni send back to their customers?
