they want a new farm bill vs just another extension is that with the reductions in spending and the fact that we are looking at a more proactive farm program is that they want to transition away from direct payments into a more Insurance based program.

The movement in this direction is what most farmers have been preaching for over the last few years.

My guess is that with in a "FEW" more years we may very well want what's old to be new again.

when polled farmers overwhelmingly wanted to get rid of direct payments in favor of crop Insurance and the 4 extension of the current farm bill will not move us in that direction.
