Subject: RE: Got bids for a silage slab

Iowa
I asked my cousin about this before beause i was going to build a bunker a couple years ago. he is an engineer for a huge asphalt company in PA. he said go with concrete with rebar and spray a special sealant on it every 5 years. he said with asphalt you will have to seal it evey 2 years and if your lucky it will last maybey 10 years. also if you have heavy trucks turning on it it wont last especially if its hot. He has no idea what your soil is like so he couldnt say what kind of base you need. He figured all the cost on both asphalt and concrete and with the maintenance cost involved the concrete was a little cheaper.
