EC Kansas | I've had a bit of experience planting rye and/or turnips for cattle pasture in the late summer; right now in this area, we are several inches of rain away from starting and growing any kind of a fall pasture crop. In past years I've found there is a substantial difference in the amount of fall pasture available when planted in late September or early October vs. early September, which is my preferred planting time. Unless we get a major shift in this weather pattern in the next 30 days, or a guy gets lucky and gets several inches of rain out of a random storm; prospects HERE for any kind of substantial fall grazing don't look good given our present weather pattern. Mother Nature could change all that, of course. FWIW
