If they can take back 7-10% of the gasoline market and pickup the increased margins that come with a reduced supply of motor fuels because of ethanol, heck yes they would let the ethanol industry rot on the vine, even if it cost them in the short run. They have and will continue to spend hundreds of millions on a yearly basis on lobbying, advertising and influence.
