| Oil analysis is the only way to know. If you use a good quality oil you can extend the drain intervals an be alright. With some off lesser quality oil you couldnt do that. Oil analysis is as important as the change itself. It could alert you to a problem like antifreeze getting in the oil. Even a very small amount could be very costly. If you knew about it you could correct the problem before a major expensive breakdown would occur. A doctor takes a blood test to check how you are doing. Should be no different with an engine. It will tell you a lot.
