Subject: RE: oil change intervals on cars

Rivers, MB
unless the car has a lot of short drives in cold weather where the engine cools down in between, changing oil every 3000 miles is a waste of money and oil and unevironmentally friendly in my opinion. Most tractors (which run in dust constantly) run 300 hours between oil changes. At an average of 30mph (and the average for most cars is higher unless its a short mileage commuter car) , thats 9000 miles.
We change oil 2x / year. Usually do around 15-18000 miles / year.
