Thats my point exactly Marland. Even with the best intentions a guy can be setting himself for a lawsuit. Its not the neighbours you have to worry about , its the cowboy that just out to sue someone. Now if you could come to an agreement with the township, whether its just a short term, as needed contract , that's another as you would gain at least some protection from the township in question in that you would be performing 'authorized' work on their behalf. Here when there is a lawsuit over something like this the lawyers will take a shotgun approach, the township, the guy removing the snow, the guy that designed the road, most likely the guy was monitoring the road etc will all be named in the suit . If you are doing unauthorized work, regardless of the fact you are just trying to help out, could potentially put all the liability onto you.
