North Central Ohio, across the Corn belt !

We broadcast a lot of fertilizer and all fields are soil tested evey year or every other year depending upon rotation. We also spread a lot of manure, but our growing season is different than your because here 103 day corn is pushing it. Most corn is 93-100 day with some on either side of it. There have been a number of farmers in the area who have tried not using starter and have gone back to it. If you get 75-100 miles south of here then there is not much starter used. Can't hardly find a used planter there that has starter and here you won't find one that doesn't have it.

well gbfarmer, I would say that you have a very viable and objective diagnosis of your situation and how a geographic location can so very much effect a variable in practices.

John
