I brand everything too at weaning. But it’s still nice to have have a tag to know exactly What cow it is. Also have had neighbors loose young calves that I doubt just walked away. The ear tags atleast let a thief know that you know the calf exists.
I need a 2” 18V makita branding iron if big tech is listening.
