deep in the southeastern corner of Idaho | nkline, Longevity is very important. I have a good market for 8-10 year old pairs. New owners tell me they get another 4 to 7 years from these cows. I agree that a good cow should last longer than 10 years.
I use this to capitalize on value of this age animal. The number of old cull cows I haul to town is very minimal. Also, I have to keep fresher genetics for my bulll buyers and if I'm doing my part my heifers "should" be better than those 8 to 10 year old cows. Not saying it is a perfect system or is for everyone but explaining what and why. |
