Subject: RE: Hip replacement recovery?

Central Illinois
I needed a total hip replacement in 2009. I was just 38. My incision is probably considered a posterior entry but it is vertical. I was on my feet in less than 12 hours, in PT the next day, home in 2 days and back to work without restrictions in 7 weeks. I'm 6' 4" and probably 260-270 at the time.

A guy in his early to mid sixties had his hip replaced the same day with the same surgeon. He stopped by my room the next day to wish me luck, walking with a cane, on his way home. He was about 5' 9" and 160ish.

My surgery was in February and I was on a spot & stalk antelope hunt in Wyoming by September. To answer your question, I would have the surgery as soon as you were done with planting so you had the summer to recover and enjoy the outdoors for PT. You'll be ready for harvest long before the combine rolls.
