North East Wimmera district of Victoria.

Yes - ask the surgeon more questions!  If they are going to go in and do it, they can tell you all the hows, whys and what choice of new hip material you have.

I had one hip done 5 years ago.  In from side.  Walked with crutches next morning, went up and down three steps, and went home.  Operated on 10.00 am Monday. home after 2 hr drive [not me driving of course] by 3.30 pm Tuesday.

I could get around without a crutch in three weeks, just had to be sensible about what I did - as in no lifting!   Legally not allowed to drive on the roads for 6 weeks - to me crazy, but a legal requirement in Victoria, Australia.

12 months down the track I ran a commercial grain carting business. Drove an "S" line Inter semi 7000 km, and was up and down the three steps to the cab God knows how many times!  Most hauls were in the 20 km range, and loading took at least 5 ups and 5 downs to shift while loading.

Just do it -  you'll not regret it.
