Strathcona, mn | Some twp will hire county to plow snow and blade roads. The county is well equipped with newer trucks and very late model graders. Our twp goes the “cheap” route and hires it private. Nothing against that.... just they are on the 3rd contractor in app. 6 years. One bowed out due to health issues, one had repairs and decided he didn’t make enough to justify it, and current one is from 30-40 miles away and does quiet a few twp btw here and there. Partly due to board and partly due to contractor but they won’t plow our roads until wind stops blowing. When it gets bad that has been up to 3-4 days. So, either it is up to me to plow 1.5 miles of twp road at my expense or we have to meet school bus at store 2 miles away to drop off or pick kids up. Bus driver won’t try the road on those occasions. | |
