Yes here in Ontario things are done different that most of you in the western states it appears.

My township has several tandem trucks, 2 or 3 graders, a payloader, couple tractor loaders and higher on a few tandem trucks and plows.

Plows usually roll at 5 am, and most roads that are maintained in winter (they don't do sideroads with no one on them) have at least a pass by 7 am, and most are winged back by 10 am. They will run till 5 or 6 pm if stormy then quit til morning unless needed for emergency services. Have a decent tax bill but roads are open.
