Sw. Ill | You could do it... but ive been down this road of salvaging old equipment. Yes there are guys that will probably come on here and say "we farmed 1000 acres with a farmall H" or something to that affect, but let me tell you that is no way to farm and enjoy it. For $15k-$20 you can have a nice line of your own equipment that is oversized for the job so you can get things done quickly with few problems.

Thats my setup now. I just upgraded the combine from a gleaner F which is comparable to that 4400 JD.
1980s equipment is cheap, theres no reason to run anything older, or smaller than what i listed.
