As long as the planter is set up no-till you should be ok. I wouldn't discount the old 4400. With some work and some helpful advice from this board you can fix about anything on those old devils. But it wouldn't hurt to have a custom cutter in your back pocket in case of emergency. You need to iron out all the details and get them in writing, so that it doesn't ruin the relationship down the road.
