Hi Chad

If you are thinking about doing custom strip tilling, then RTK needs to be considered. I’ve done custom strip-tilling with my Trimble RTK guided JD8410T and 12-row strip-till bar. In the spring the customers have planted on the strips with 8, 12, 16 and 24 row planters without problems. I run a 16-row planter, an 80 foot sprayer and a 8-row corn head, which fits my operation perfectly. The JD8410T would not pull a 16-row strip-till bar but handles the 12-row. If your going to use DGPS auto-guidance then I would look at getting a strip-till bar big enough that it would accommodate your planter’s width without needing to worry about the planter running on the strip-till guess rows.
