I agree with the basic point Jim mades that some of you seem to be missing. Yes, cattle are going to get sick. Both beef and dairy, with increased incididence in dairy.

I rarely if ever give a beef animal a shot. Usually for an adult case of footrot. Anything I did treat was sold only after it healed up and had been around for the proper withdrawl period. I also treated sick calves and did not sell them along with their "drug free" herdmates. Of course there are those who don't survived treated or not so those were drug over the hill to the "profit pile"

Mrs Gavogel makes an excellent point that needs to be observed. If/when treating any animal, observe proper dosages and withdrawl times before you send that animal down the road to market. It's as simple as that.
