just to much of a fire hazard in my opinion. true you have a water heater and furnace but they have some safety controls for the environment that a vehicle doesn't have. To each his own, I just wouldn't do it. feel the same about those houses with drive in garage where bedrooms are over the garage. attached garage with the right dry wall is ok.
After my pickup darn near burned my unattached garage down several years back, I'd be reluctant to even attach a above ground garage to my house. I do know of a few garages that burned down houses..... some took some lives with it.
