ncia | Suey, I aggree that taxes are the price to live in a civilized society and I agree with most of what you are saying, but some times the school improvements are "over the top". One of the districts I pay taxes in is a high tax district (Forest city iowa)Some landowners tried to get a portion out and annexed to another adjoining district( North iowa community )with lower taxes. The AEA (area education association) said no we are doing this for the good of the children. They got 10,000 acres of good land and only have to educate about 23 more kids. My question Is if the neighboring schools like Algona Public and West Hancocck have lower taxes , are their children getting a poorer education?? If it is for the good of the students there should be public outrage in those districts.
Don't get me started on our new Performing arts center. Partially paid for by taxes and maintained 100% by property taxes. | |
