SW Iowa | Upon re=reading your posting, and reflecting upon what you said, I believe you do not understand the basic, underlying problem facing farming in America. We purchase everything at retail prices, depend on the whims of mother nature to grow crops, then sell our produce at wholesale. When profits are non existent, we cannot shut off the lights and quit producing..The land would grow up in weeds and the gov would be after us to clean it up. The land for us farming is good only if we farm it, and farm it till we go broke. What other American industry operates like us? We need gov subsidies to keep the lights on. | |
