If you chose to pursue finding them make sure you control the situation and expect very little. This isn't a movie. Most likely they will fall short of any expectation you may have of them.
It would be good to know if there are any health history information if nothing else.
Good luck...it's a very difficult situation for you and your real parents that adopted you...be sure they are fully involved in the process. They are the ones that love you and you will not want to hurt them.
Thanks Brian. I know quite a bit about already about the downside through my sister, also adopted but from a different family than me. They came looking for her versus the other way around. She has mixed feelings over it I think, although she does have a decent relationship with some of her biological family. My Mom passed away in 2005 from cancer and my father and I have somewhat of a complex relationship, so it's a bit hard to involve them.
Maybe I should clarify, I know my biological parents were very young, high school aged, when I was born. No drugs, crime, me being removed from the home kind of situation involved. Simply too young. As to expectations, I don't really have any. I'm reasonably sure that their expectations of me would be different than what they might expect as well. |
