Scranton | You can attempt to stereotype me and other organic farmers all you like....it doesn't change the fact that almost daily I am defending the chemical part of my operation vs those who don't have all the facts.
Farmers are a bunch of stubborn and independent people. GMO's mostly benefit the farmer, not the consumer...at least in corn/soybean production. So the entire ag industry climbed on board the GMO easy train and forgot to check with the consumers....then when the consumer wants something different, they attack the consumer and the few who decide to provide the consumers what they want. I'm not saying I think everyone or anyone should farm organic....heck, I say stay out, so I can continue to enjoy record profits (Most of my organic corn with produce north of $1500/ac gross this year)....I'm just pointing out that we as an ag industry really did a poor job of selling GMOs to the general public, instead we have hired Monsanto and congress to force it down their throats. | |
