I have a 1760 I no till with .in 2014 I had stalks get under the little row unit chain a dozen times ,last year only once, . I try to plant just a few inches to the side of the previous years row. Like some of the other guys have said if the stalks are leaning away they shouldn't jam up the chains as you go over them .Every year is different but hanging a pipe or heavy chain is a cheap thing to try.
